As a second-year teacher, I piloted a new model for teaching 7th-grade English using a class set of iPads. These provide students with access to high-interest ebooks, digital graphic novels, blog software, and a customized Learning Management System that offers digital classwork and multimedia. Granted by our co-principals, the set of tablets is the only one at the school used in daily instruction. I chronicle the lessons and experiments of this project on this site, as co-editor (with Lewis Leiboh) of the EdTech 101 blog on TFANet.org, and through this periodic newsletter called Read | Write | Rock that updates classroom supporters on the latest innovations in Mr. Pratt’s room.
